Types of Level Gauges

Reflex Level Gauge

These gauges are used for measuring the level in a vessel. These can be used for maximum pressure of upto 400 bar and a maximum temperature of 4000 C. Constructional features include, three metre single piece construction with multiple glasses between process connections. A pair of auto shut off ball check valves in standard material of construction; Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel; Monel - 400, Hastalloy 'C', Polypropylene, HDPE, PTFE / Ruberlined as optional.

Magnetic Level Gauge

These types of level Gauges are used for highly hazardous/toxic liquids where gauge glasses are susceptible to attack by the process medium. These gauges can be used for pressures up to 220 bar, temperatures 4000C and specific gravity at the minimum

Bi - Color Level Gauge

These type of gauges are used for level indication in boiler drums, glasses of these gauges are protected from wet steam by using high quality mica sheets in between. Level indication is obtained by utilizing differential refractive indices between steam and water. Maximum pressure is 120kg/cm2 and the corresponding saturation temperature.

» Level Switches

Types of Level Switches

Float Operated Level Switch

Basic operating principle provides for magnetic switch action resulting from a change in liquid level, which moves a magnetic attraction sleeve into the field of an externally located magnet.

Displacer Operated Level Switch

This principle provides for wide switching differential and additionally allows altering of the switching point by moving the displacers up/down the suspension cable. Displacer type also can operate under higher pressure conditions because of greater wall thickness than floats.
Displacer type offers some alternate features to the float operated. The sensor is a weight (displacer) heavier than liquid, which is suspended by a spring. When Liquid contacts the displacer, a buoyancy force is produced, which causes the effective weight of the displacer to change ; this causes the spring to retract slightly to a new equlibrium position. When the spring retracts the attraction sleeve also moves upward into the field of the external magent (thus over-coming the force of the bias spring and actuating the switching element).

Types of Transmitters

Displacer Level Transmitter

The instrument measures and transmits liquid level, interface or density by sensing changes in buoyancy force exerted on a fixed displacer element. The buoyancy force is converted into standard output 4 - 20mA analogue or digital output.
